Zeynep Güler
Secretary-General

Most Esteemed Participants,

On behalf of our academic and organization teams, once again I would like to welcome you to the Model Courts of Justice Family as The Secretary-General of the Model Courts of Justice Conference 2022! My name is Zeynep Güler, and I am a third-grade student at Ankara University, Faculty of Law.

My story with model courts of justice started way back in 2019 as a trainee of the ACHPR. I can still vividly remember the excitement I felt when I first became a part of the team.

The following year amid covid, I served as the Under-Secretary-General for the International Court of Justice which is the first-ever court simulated by the MCJ. Now that I am the Secretary-General of this conference, I realize my self-improvement. Me being in this position and leading this excellent team is giving me shivers and fills me with nothing but excitement and honor.

In this year’s edition of Model Courts of Justice, we will examine very diverse parts of International Law. While entertaining International Criminal Law in ICTY one second later we will find ourselves discussing intelligence-gathering practices under the scope of ECHR. This year for the first time, we will have a District Court in The United States to deliberate on monopolization. The International Court of Justice, our apple of the eye, will bring us the most debated topic of the 21st century, the term collective self-defense. Finally, with the Dispute Settlement Mechanism in WTO, we will help promising legists have an experience of a wonderful arbitration. I as the responsible advisor of these courts believe that you will have the most unique and over-the-top experience.

Having witnessed the past two years of the conference by being a team member with pride and pleasure, I can faithfully state that Model CJ, once again, will host a formidable experience for you to enhance your skills on different perspectives of law.
